Center For Spiritual Living
Awakening humanity to its spiritual magnificence
Providing spiritual tools for personal and global transformation
Welcome to CSL Santa Cruz!
Hi, I’m Reverend Elisha Christopher and I am the spiritual director here at the Center for Spiritual Living, Santa Cruz.
Here at CSL Santa Cruz, we are a community of individuals who are dedicated to asking ourselves one question, “What is possible, what is possible when we tap into our true authenticity?” What is possible when we come together as community? What is possible when we tap into a vision of a world and a life that is truly calling us?
Here at CSL, Santa Cruz, our community members come from various spiritual traditions, backgrounds, and upbringings. We are a people who look to truth wherever we can find it. And so if you were to come here, one of our Sunday talks or participate in our classes, the thing that you would notice is that we look to neuroscience, to quantum physics, to mythology, and to ancient spiritual traditions for the guidance to help us navigate the world that is unfolding in front of us.
We here at CSL Santa Cruz believe that it is our purpose to awaken humanity to its spiritual magnificence. We use spiritual tools for personal and global transformation. And we hold a vision of a world that works for everyone. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you’re welcome here.
We hope that you might come and join us sometime for our Sunday morning celebration, where you will hear inspiring music, where you’ll be uplifted by a message that might feel more like a Ted talk than a Sunday morning sermon. And you’ll be surrounded by individuals who are openhearted, welcoming, and seeking to be as inclusive as we possibly can.
We all know that the work starts with us. And so we do our individual work. We come to this place to do it together. I hope that you will join us, and thank you.
Mission, Vision, and Purpose
Our MISSION is to provide spiritual tools for personal and global transformation.
Our PURPOSE is to awaken humanity to its spiritual magnificence.
Our VISION is a world that works for everyone, and all life on Earth.
We are a community dedicated to possibility!
The CSL community is a key pillar in my life. I love the message and the music, the individuals and the community, the events and classes. CSL is welcoming and inclusive to all which is very important to me. And Rev Elisha is changing my life because he gives me deep insights and ways to make my life better. Hallelujah!
The message, the music, the wisdom at CSL lift me up. These days, I need help remembering hope. In the warm embrace of the CSL community I am recharged and rejuvenated.
I was searching for a different, inclusive, and uplifting experience. I found that Rev Elisha and the Center for Spiritual Living in Santa Cruz are all that, plus being warm, welcoming, and filled with joy!
CSL services are done beautifully. Elisha’s brilliance and heartfelt commitment to “a world that works for everyone” has made CSL inspirational for me. Under Elisha’s leadership, the CSL Center is a special, welcoming place for people of all ages and backgrounds who want a spiritual home—a place that offers hope for a better world.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
We see a world that works for everyone…
We are a community that values responding to life with love; we value creating a safe space for all who participate. We do not tolerate stereotypical remarks or comments that ascribe a particular characteristic to a whole group or category of people.
Stereotyping of any group gives rise to racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of separation. As such, we strongly reject stereotyping and separatist perspectives as they conflict with our belief in the unity of all people and life itself.
Indigenous Land Acknowledgement
We honor the indigenous people who were here before us. The land on which we gather is unceded territory of the Awaswas-speaking Uypi Tribe. The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, comprised of the descendants of indigenous people taken to missions Santa Cruz and San Juan Bautista during Spanish colonization of the Central Coast, is today working hard to restore traditional stewardship practices on these lands and heal from historical trauma.
We Believe Black Lives Matter
“Centers for Spiritual Living stands with people all around the world who are advocating for justice, equity, inclusion, and peace. We are motivated by our vision of a world that works for everyone and, therefore, we affirm with the people of the world that Black lives matter. Not only do Black lives matter, but according to our teaching, they are sacred.”
-Rev. Dr. Edward Viljoen, Spiritual Leader, Centers for Spiritual Living
